He then apologized to him for doubting him. Thorfinn and Einar were then taken to meet King Canute. The talk was not so pretty and there was some harsh exchange but Canute was also right on his points as he stated that he is just here to give orders to Vikings so that their lives can have a purpose.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 22 Recap
In the previous episode, we saw that the count of punches was increasing one by one and it looked like Drott was also getting hit with exhaustion. Thorfinn was taking the punches and was moving his joints to take minimum damage but some punches landed directly when he was distracted by his surroundings.
Throfinn was able to complete the task of getting his one hundred times and Drott also reached his limit by that time. He then asked Throfinn to forgive him for doubting him and he said that he thinks that Thorfinn is a true warrior. Thorfinn was then given his reward to meet the King and Thorfinn invited Einar with him as he also had some things to say to Canute.
Canute was surprised by Thorfinn’s arrival but he also knew that he is a tough man. Then their meeting started and Canute asked if he is glad that Thorfinn is still alive and then apologized for making him a slave. Then Thorfinn asked Canute to leave Ketil’s farm but Canute said that the Ketil Clan defied him and killed his soldiers.
Thorfinn said that there are more than a hundred casualties. Einar then said that he wants the farm and he is a thief. Then Thorfinn reminded him of the utopia he used to talk about but Canute said that he is not going to do that anymore as it is equal to defying the Gods.
Vikings get their meaning of life by fighting and he is not going to change that as their leader. Einar then said that he has suffered because of every king and they are nothing but full of lies. Then he said that he needs Ketil’s wealth and they can not stop him without killing him while Vikings surrounded Thorfinn and Einar.
