Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is known to be a Japanese-based manga series that was written and developed by Koyoharu Gotouge. The story was published in a magazine called Weekly Shōnen Jump between the dates of February 2016 to May 2020. Later, it was divided into smaller parts and was released as 23-part books. This series has been published in English by Viz Media and, at the same time, also got released on the Manga Plus platform by Shueisha.
It’s about a teenager named Tanjiro Kamado who wants to be a Demon Slayer. His family got killed, and his little sister, Nezuko, turned into a demon. The anime series first aired in 2019. A sequel movie came out in 2020 and became the highest-grossing anime film ever. Then, a second season aired in 2021-2022. After that, there was a compilation film in 2023, along with a third season. Another compilation film followed in 2024, and now a fourth season is coming in May 2024.

Demon Slayer Characters
1. Tanjiro Kamado
Starting with 1st episode, we get to see a character named Tanjiro Kamado for whom the voice is given by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese, and in English it was given by a person named Zach Aguilar. The entire life of Tanjiro life turned upside down when a demon kills his family and turns his sister, Nezuko, into a demon. Driven by both love for his sister and anger towards the demons who harmed his family, Tanjiro decides to join the Demon Slayer Corps.
His goal is to hunt down demons and, with hope, find a method to transform his sister Nezuko back into a human. He starts to understand the actual reality of life and decides to make an even tougher decision to save his sister,
2. Nezuko Kamado
In the first episode of Demon Slayer, we get to know about Neuko, who she had a really bad past of losing her parents, who were killed by a demon when her brother was away. The sad thing in the entire thing is, that even though she was not killed, she was turned into a demon. Before she got turned into a demon, Nezuko was shown as a very good and caring character.
But all got changed after she turned into a demon because she got more strength and went in search for a thirst for blood. After turning into a demon, Nezuko can’t talk and gets hurt by sunlight, so she’s often by herself. But she still clearly cares about her brother throughout the series.
3. Zenitsu Agatsuma
In Demon Slayer, we can see the voice for him was given in Japanese by Hiro Shimono and later only in fourth episode we get to hear the english voice given by Aleks Le. Here, Zenitsu Agatsuma is a older than the character Tanjiro but he is shown to be not having bravery and often runs away when any danger arises. But he’s not bad at fighting because he was taught by Jigoro Kuwajima.
Zenitsu appearance is shown as he has eyes in golden colour, a fair skin, yellow hair due to a strike from lightning strike, which show him as young person and it also matches his personality. Although some people might not like Zenitsu’s jokes, he still helps make the anime really memorable.
4. Inosuke Hashibira
In the first episode of the anime, we meet Inosuke Hashibira. He’s voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka in Japanese and Bryce Papenbrook in English. Inosuke is a fighter who likes to jump into battles without thinking first. He’s really good at fighting, but he often gets into trouble because he thinks he’s stronger than he is. This gets him into hot water, especially because he’s always looking for a good fight.

Inosuke had a different upbringing—he was raised by boars. That’s why he wears a unique kind of headgear. Because of his background, he struggles to understand human feelings and customs. But as he spends more time with the Demon Slayer Corps, he starts to learn and change, becoming more like the people around him.
5. Kanao Tsuyuri
In the first episode of the anime, we meet a character named Kanao. She’s voiced by Reina Ueda in Japanese and Brianna Knickerbocker in English. Kanao has big, kind-looking pink eyes and thin black hair tied in a ponytail. Because of her difficult childhood, she keeps to herself, showing hardly any feelings and not wanting to make choices. However, as time goes on, she starts to grow up, even though the anime doesn’t show much of this change. Lately, she hasn’t been on screen much, only popping up briefly in seasons 2 and 3.
6. Genya Shinazugawa
In the anime show, Genya is voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto in Japanese and Zeno Robinson in English. He appears in Episode 4 and has a sad backstory: he saw his mother turn into a demon and kill his siblings, and then his brother Sanemi killed her. Genya can’t do Breathing Techniques, but he’s a strong fighter who can take on demon powers. At first, Genya’s bad temper makes him hard to be friends with, especially in the beginning. But as the story goes on, he starts to open up a bit more, though he still gets upset with Tanjiro, especially during the Swordsmith Village part of the story.

7. Sanemi Shinazugawa
In the first episode, which is number 22, we meet a character named Sanemi. He’s voiced by Tomokazu Seki in Japanese and Kaiji Tang in English. Sanemi is known as the Wind Hashira, a strong character in the anime. When he was a kid, he had a hard time, which made him hide his feelings and keep people away, even his brother Genya. This sad event made him really hate demons, and he’s determined to fight them with all his might.
Even though Sanemi is one of the older characters in Demon Slayer, he’s not always very grown-up. He can be pretty stubborn, especially when someone challenges what he believes.
8. Giyu Tomioka
In the first episode of the anime, we meet a character named Giyu. He doesn’t talk a lot and likes to keep his thoughts to himself. When he was younger, his sister saved him from a demon, but she died doing it. When Giyu tried to tell others what happened, they didn’t believe him, and he felt lonely. Now, Giyu is part of the Demon Slayer Corps and is respected by others. He might seem tough and distant, but deep down, he’s not as confident as he appears.

9. Shinobu Kocho
In the first episode, Shinobu Kocho is portrayed as a friendly and easy-to-talk-to member of the Demon Slayer Corps. She’s always smiling and likes to joke around. But underneath her happy attitude, she hates demons because her sister, Kanae Kocho, died because of them. Even though she seems nice, Shinobu can be very tough and mean, especially when fighting or talking to enemies. She’s good at using sharp words to defeat even the strongest foes while still smiling.
10. Tengen Uzui
Tengen, who used to be a Demon Slayer and is now known as the Sound Hashira, has a sad story that begins in episode 21 of the anime. He grew up in a ninja family, where his father trained him harshly, and he was tricked into killing some of his siblings. Despite his difficult past, Tengen wants to be different from his father and generally tries to do the right thing. While investigating the Entertainment District, he becomes worried about his wife’s safety and asks Aoi Kanzaki to help. However, he later realizes the danger posed by a powerful demon and decides to prioritize the safety of Tanjiro and his friends.
