Magical Shoujo anime has an altogether different fanbase that is huge as any other genre of anime. Be it beautiful transformations to magical girls or sparkling animation, shows like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, the magical shoujo genre has been well received worldwide.
With an already popular anime adaptation released back in 2002 by Studio Pierrot, Tokyo Mew Mew left a long-lasting impression. And with the brand new anime adaptation named Tokyo Mew Mew New releasing in 2022, it is back to charm us all over again.
A new key visual of Tokyo Mew Mew New has also been revealed.
In the new key visual we can see the protagonists of the show, the pink-haired Ichigo Momomiya, the purple-haired Zakura Fujiwara, the blue-haired Mint Aizawa, the yellow-haired Bu-Ling Huang (Purin Fon), and the green-haired Lettuce Midorikawa all in their magical form.
A new PV has also been revealed along with the key visual.
In the PV, the characters are showcased voiced by their respecting voice actors announcing the arrival of Tokyo Mew Mew New.
Plot:
Hoping to spend a romantic date with her crush Masaya Aoyama, Ichigo Momomiya fells asleep seeing a cat entering her body. After waking up, her behavior began to resemble that of a cat including the craving for a fish.
One strange thing after the other, Ichigo Momomiya turns into a magical girl with cat ears and a tail trying to save her crush, Masaya Aoyama.
Soon two researchers named Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka confirms that they injected Ichigo with Iriomote Cat DNA to make a magical girl who could fight against the aliens to save the world. And soon teaming up with four other magical girls, Ichigo Momoniya begins her duty as a magical girl to save this world.
Conclusion:
With brand new character designs and two different studios Yumeta Company and Graphinica animating this series, Tokyo Mew Mew New is off to a strong start, at least in papers. All we can do is wait for the official release date in 2022 to enjoy another promising and already proven magical girl anime.
